Pawa-tele, an energy solutions startup will be holding a free energy clinic for the iHub community. The clinic, where the startup plans to answer questions and offer advice around energy issues, will be conducted via email.
Pawa-tele is a product of the global Negawatt Challenge. It was born out of a group of mostly engineers who came together to take part in the Negawatt Challenge 2015 in Nairobi. The Negawatt Challenge is a global initiative of the World Bank that is currently taking place in four cities across the world. Other than Nairobi, the other participating cities include Accra in Ghana, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
Initially calling itself, Angaza, they rebranded into Pawa-tele after emerging among the top two in the recently concluded phase of the challenge, and it became clear that they would take their product to the market. The team consists of Franklin Mogoi, Team and Product Development Lead who is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer. Njeri Kamau, a water and environmental engineer is the Business Development Lead, Antony Mugiluri an electrical and electronics engineer is the Hardware Product Designer and Software Specialist, Clement Nzau, a Computer Scientist, is the Lead Software Developer, Philip Ochola, an electronics engineer and is the team's Electronics Engineer, while Purity Gachanja, an Electrical and Electronics Engineer is in charge of Marketing and Operations.
